Buffett and Munger Go Livestream

April 29, 2016

Today, our very own John Ewing is in Omaha delivering a speech to European value investors before attending the Berkshire Hathaway Annual General Meeting tomorrow. Year after year, approximately 40,000 shareholders travel to attend this famous event held at Century Link Center in downtown Omaha.  The meeting has, historically, been unavailable to the general public. However, this Saturday, April 30th, Yahoo Finance will be live streaming the Berkshire Hathaway AGM for the first time ever. This is a great opportunity for value investors that have never had the chance to make the pilgrimage. Alex Ryzhikov continues to claim fame from last year’s 50th year anniversary meeting.  Fortune Magazine reported yesterday that Alex Ryzhikov, a partner at Ewing Morris & Co Investment Partners in Toronto, drove 20 hours in a RV camper to Omaha last year and was first in line to enter the meeting at 12:30 a.m., six hours before doors opened. He is not going this year, citing other commitments, but will watch online.  “If you want to just get the content, you’re probably going to be okay watching online,” he said. “To get the energy and excitement of being there, you make the trip.” Read more here in the Fortune and Globe and Mail articles.
